Winter appears to be over. It's been a damp one but we needed the rain and our vegetation seems to be leaping out of the ground and into bloom. The whales must sense something is happening on the land as they are coming close to the shore, breaching as if to take a peak at our flowers. |
PERSONAL NEWS
All of you know the story of Corky the miracle dog who survived being lost in the wild for 44 days, then developed cancer and endured 16 days of radiation treatments. He's fine now but Susan decided he needed a sibling, a Portuguese Water Dog sibling of course. Our niece Carolyn is personally bringing the new puppy to us from Dallas on March 7th. Corky has mixed emotions about not being an only child anymore. He's going to need some special attention, as if he lacks for anything now. I'll put a picture of the puppy in the next newsletter.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Everyone is getting ready for spring and summer. There are many more upcoming events that can fit into this newsletter so I urge you to also check out www.gomendo.com. But here is my summary of the major events and festivals worthy of some "save the dates" to come to Mendocino.
March 15 and 16 - The Fort Bragg Whale Festival is always a hoot with numerous activities for the whole family. Also check out the 12th annual Fort Bragg Beer Festival and the Annual Whale Run, both on March 15th. Run the race and feel superior enough to sample all the fine brews.

May 2-11 - Mendocino Heritage Days are prefect for you history buffs. Find out why Mendocino is on the Register of Historic Places. Call 707-937-5791 for more information.
May 16-18 - The Pinot Festival in Anderson Valley is a perennial favorite. All the best producers from Mendocino, Sonoma and even Napa attend. You are plied with great wines and suburb food. We can arrange discount tickets.
May 29- June 1 - The third annual Mendocino Film Festival promises greatness this year. It attracts an amazing array of talented filmmakers and stars. Quickly coming into its own as a major film event, this Festival will fill up our rooms so book early. We usually have filmmakers and/or judges staying with us.

June 21 - The Mendocino Garden Tour is always a highlight. Visit spectacular gardens not usually assessable to the public.
June 20-22 - The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival held at the Mendocino Fairgrounds in Boonville is a must for those who appreciate eclectic music in a very laid back setting.
